Let's do this shit again, this time I'm going to be comparing 2 MMORPG's together, Runes of Magic to Runescape
LET'S START THIS UP!!!
Starting off - Combat
Runes of magic
-Has more skills and more interaction with them
-Allows you to level up skills as you level up
-Damage is more consistent and less RNG, there's still crit, dodge, and parry
-Armor means something and you are able to stat against your weakness or improve your strengths through fusion stones and the liking (Someone pay to win, but this can still be achieved through dailies and buying diamonds or just buying stuff from other people etc etc.)
-Generally the combat is somewhat enjoyable here and there
Runescape
Skills are far and few between, some skills require you to have membership to use
-There are 3 types of skills basic, threshold, and ultimate
-Basic skills are to build up adrenaline, these skills have lower cooldowns than the other skills
-Threshold uses up some adrenaline but also requires you to have at least 50% adrenaline. Generally better skills than the basics because of this.
-Ultimate skills drain the entire adrenaline bar to 0% and require 100% adrenaline to cast, at times though these skills are very useful and can be useful to use.
-Sadly eatting in combat with the new adrenaline sort of style drains it instead of ignoring your eating habits (Come on put some sugar coating on your shark and call it a adrenaline booster...)
-RNG heavy, unlike Runes of Magic, damage is heavily RNG based, you have literally NO clue what your next hit is going to be or do, it could be anywhere from an incredibly low hit or a crit, runes of magic doesn't have RNG this bad...
Armor and equipment
Runes of Magic
-Generally get new gear look at stats, observe if it's worth it or not to do some trading off of say more damage for less stamina/wis or the other way around, I just got lucky and got a weapon that gave me both more damage, more healing, more HP, but it was at the cost of some speed... (Hey it was a purple tier item, HOW COULD I PASS THAT UP!?)
-Generally weapons/items are freaking annoying when it comes to being pre-bound to you when you get it, really it is quite annoying.
-You can stat your gear to what you want more of, rather it be more str, stam, wis, int, dex, armor, or magic resistance. This is somewhat here it becomes F2P, but at the same time you can achieve the same, it just takes longer than others do in most games with this sort of model to begin with, you can buy their cash to currency in game from other players though if you want so eh. w/e.
Runescape
-Triangle like combat Mage beats Melee, Melee beats Ranged, Ranged beats Mage.
-Short and to the point, generally weapons don't have much besides speed to power, if you give up speed you get more power and more accurate, if you give up power and accuracy, you get speed
-What made weapons more "special" was the ability to use a special ability that was attached to it in the first place, this made it where it wasn't just a trade off between speed to power/accuracy
-Shit doesn't fucking bind to you when you get it... Let me say this again, shit doesn't fucking bind to you when you get it, this is probably one of the main things I liked about runescape, is that once you get something you had a choice to be able sell set item you just got or keep it for yourself, instead of a rare item or just a different tier outside of utter shit tier no one fucking wants in the first place WHY ARE YOU EVEN LOOKING AT IT WHEN YOU ARE ABOVE LEVEL 10
-Not much customization, you can't do much with the gear you have, this brings it to be more simplistic than most other RNGs, a few sets have special passives that are either chance (oh yay more chance bullshit) or have lower HP to deal more damage. They just recently started adding in a choice between more damage in exchange for less tankyness, and the other way around... I guess because it never existed before hand so it's a trade off, be more tanky or have more damage.
Skills/crafting
Runes of magic
-You can get maximum in gathering skills, but you can't for crafting gear and potions if you wanted to.
-Just seems as if it doesn't pay off like it should early on but at the same time it relies on RNG for you to have better gear than others.
-Easier to level up
Runescape
- Can level up ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING
-Pays off when you put hours and hours into it, it takes too long to get descent return for something that you have done. it's also jacked up because of the level variations of things from crafting translating into ability to wear level 57 to craft an entire set and only level 40 to wear it, or worse, level 40 to wear and wield it, level 99 to create an entire sit or level 85 to make the WEAKEST ITEM
Getting around
Runes of Magic
-You have mounts you can go around with and things like this but also teleportation is limited.
Runescape
-TELEPORTS ALL OVER, you can teleport all over the place, getting around runescape is easy, you have amulets to get you to places where there isn't a teleport through magic to go to, or recall to a new location which is in generally most of the places that required you to go through etc etc... SO yea... You get places where you need to fast instead of "LOOK AT ALL THIS EMPTINESS *Put a few mobs here and there*
Aside notes of runescape
Magic has it's benefits, in fact sometimes too many, it gets into crafting for jewelry and allows you to enchant items to some liking, but this takes a bit to get to and you need a specific gem to get a possible result that is wanted. member's only for certain jewelry though, sad it is like that though (unless they changed it)
Allowing you to take your character from server to server to server, this allows you to take your stuff else where, though it can be good/bad at times considering that others can do it, but so can you. This is good for mining higher level stuff (which takes forever to get to) or rare monsters or just too crowded of people you don't want to deal with.
Generally is able to play alone even though it's an MMORPG, by this being said you don't need many people to play this game with, which is probably why there's oddly more people actually playing it. I don't have to have someone help me with every quest, speaking of quests they are quite different than most other MMORPG's they are more unique but at the same time some don't take themselves too seriously or just make fun of how you have to go to one guy to another to another to another (One small favor)
Only problem I seem to have at times with Runescape is that it's a generation of F2P model becoming more popular, it's growing quite a bit now and I'm glad to see it grow like it is, instead of having
Aside notes of Runes of Magic
-Access to everything for "free" you can earn everything without having to pay for it, somethings are somethings
-Only reason I wrote this is because the server I play on is down.
