Ok, I'm comparing apples and oranges or w/e to how they are, though BL2 was great at how the guns functioned etc
Anyway aside from this there's just one thing that was done in Ratchet Deadlocked that I liked, and still do to this day. Customizable guns. First you have the Alpha and Omega Mods
Alpha you could have 10 of the same type of mod that you had (As long as you had them)
Speed - Fire rate of the weapon is increased.
Ammo - Ammo capacity for the weapon is increased
Nano Leech - Enemies have a chance to drop health for you (chance increased by 10% per mod equiped) though this one wasn't one of my favorite despite the effects
Aim - First one shows you what your character is currently targeting and the second mod your weapons automatically leads the target. (Any more than 2 is useless)
Area - Increases the effect of anything with a radius/splash damage effect
Jackpot - Increased bolts earned from enemies (Yes bolts were a currency in the Ratchet and Clank series)
XP - This mod is a given really, increases EXP given by enemies
You could choose from any ten of these and if the weapon level was level 10 or above they could equip ten mods.
Now Omega mods
Acid - Deals damage over time (Sorta like corrosive does in BL as well)
Brainwash - Temporary monster in fighting
Freeze - Monsters attack/move slower as they have lower HP, each hit they constitly grow slower as they reach lower HP with the weapon being used against them
Minibomb - Explosive weapons only - causes minibombs to explode out of the main bomb. (Pretty much a cluster bomb)
Morphing - This turned enemies into random animals and what not
Napalm - Explosive weapons only - causes an area to have napalm spread over it and dealt damage to it.
Time-bomb - Instead of instantly exploding, all explosive weapons would stick to an enemy and explode shortly after sticking to an enemy, shocked enemies around them as well as inverting the colors on the screen.
Shock - Hitting an enemy caused a chain effect of one enemy to be shocked, with this weapon mod if you had a hoard of enemies they could keep the shock ability going on and on between all of them if they all weren't shocked at the same time.
With this being said I'm surprised that BL2 didn't have some sort of way to increase the effectiveness of your weapons outside of what was given to you. Sure there's skill points and badass rank but the way that it seems that Deadlocked had a great way of making your weapons feel different while still being the same thing, it made for an interesting experience for me and I still look back and forth... To me the idea could be done but in a way not in the same fashion as deadlocked, Probably at least the ability to upgrade your gun perhaps? Considering when you get to late game things sort of not take off with your weapons, once you get a weapon you're stuck with the same weapon stats and in no way to change/alter it's functionality as well as some of it's stats, even the slightest increase or sort of way to increase your guns as well as other things would be interesting. Having 12 million dollars in BL2 and nothing to use it on sucks TBH and makes me want to punch Marcus in the face for not having an awesomer shop like Mr. Torgue does.
Perhaps maybe some sort of way to use eridium late game outside of certain bosses? Hell the ammo dump still has one where it tries to list "mods" while they are inside the medic store instead (Just like in the first one) before had SDUs were found at the ammo dump instead of from crazy earl. But yea... Honestly me and my brother had this conversation which sorta sprung this up as well, but it mainly pushed my relooking into the past for this and all.
Aside from that though BL2 is in no doubt a bad game or anything, it just seemed like it'd be one of the best features to have in the game type thing.
